Who Can Participate? If you play the tuba, sousaphone, euphonium, baritone, helicon or even serpent, you are welcome to join our concert. There is no restriction on age, height, weight, or religion... and THERE IS NO AUDITION REQUIRED!  Just be there with your horn in time for registration and be ready to do some sight reading. This is your chance to prove that our instruments are just as capable of playing beautiful captivating melodies as any other instrument in the orchestra! When Is it? Sunday, December 4th, 2016 Registration begins at 1:30  - Rehearsal Begins at 1:45  The Performance begins at 3:00 and will end about 3:50 Where Is It? The Lobby of Ferguson Center’s Concert hall on the Campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. There is plenty of free parking available. We play from the Carols for a Merry TubaChristmas Volume II, that is used at TubaChristmas concerts all across the nation. The book contains 33 selections, including numbers arranged by Norlan Bewley to enhance the original nineteen traditional Christmas carols arranged by Alec Wilder.   They come in several versions: Bass Clef Key of C, With all four parts written in  score form Ttreble Clef, Key of Bb, With the two upper parts only also in score form Eb/Bb Ttreble Clef tubas for all you Salvation Army & British Brass Band players out there. Most of the books come in two sizes - regular and LARGE PRINT for easier reading To order music directly from the Harvey Phillips Foundation in advance click here. but you will save on postage if you purchase them at our registration desk. Carol book pricing has gone up, but we will maintain the original prices while we have books in stock. Does it Cost Anything? There is a registration fee of $10.00 per person.  (Cash or Checks only please) This pays for your registration and your official TubaChristmas participant button. There will also be carol books and other merchandise available for purchase. What do I need to Bring? INSTRUMENT Most importantly bring your horn and mouthpiece. We don't have any spare instruments to rent or loan! MUSIC A copy of the "Carols for a Merry TubaChristmas, Vol. II. (Available at registration) MUSIC STAND -  Bring a lyre or music stand. (Most years CNU provides them, but it depends on their needs for the Holiday Happenings concert) You may also be able to share with a buddy. MONEY  - You’ll need cash or a check to cover your  $10.00 registration fee.   There will also be carol books and other merchandise available for purchase. DRESS  We are indoors, so you don't have to worry about dressing for the cold, but feel free to wear bright Christmas colors and decorate your horn if you wish.
